The Magic Adjustable Ring - A Better Way to Begin Crochet in the Round
Have you ever fought and struggled and ripped and re-ripped both your yarn and hair, trying to make your starting round neat and tidy with a center hole as small as possible? Of course you have. And maybe, just maybe, that unsightly center hole has even kept you from crocheting in the round at all. Well, no more. Now you will be armed with the trusty (some might even say magic) adjustable ring and you will be dancing circles around those circles.

The Spiral
The spiral is an interesting bit of work. When you make a granny square or other square that begins as a circle, you usually join to one round, then chain up to bring your round to the correct height. The spiral does not work this way. You do NOT chain to bring up to height. Therefore, it is easy to get confused as to where you are.

Ways to Join Crocheted Squares or Motifs
You can use a large-eye needle to sew the edges with a whip stitch but you'll want to use a color for the joining yarn that matches your squares, when you are sewing squares together.
