"Help me Move my Money..."

The Scam
By now most likely everyone has received at least one if not dozens of these types of emails. This type of identity theft or fraud is also known as the Nigeria Scam. These vary greatly in the senders as well as the fictional sad stories but mostly they ask for your help in moving a large amount of money from one country to another for compensation. Some will want you to send them money for some sort of deposit before they give you access to the treasure and others will ask you for your banking information. Both of these and many other flavors are identity theft or fraud scams. Millions of these types of email spams are sent out everyday and account for a large percentage of spam complaints. Many people still fall for this type of identity theft and fraud every year and it is responsible for hundreds of millions of dollars in fraudulent losses.

The Solution
Prevention is the key to this type of identity theft scam. Never respond to any email received that seems too good to be true and comes from a stranger. Do not even request to be removed from their list.

In this type of identity theft scam, they cannot get your personal information or money if you do not to give it to them.
