Social Security NumberIn this fast paced technology driven world that we live in, the crime of identity theft has risen to the size of an epidemic. Once an identity thief has your name and social security number SSN, it is pretty easy for them to get access to your personal information including bank accounts, credit cards, etc.. These identity thieves can also create new bank accounts or credit cards in your name. Many computer databases and systems also use your Social Security number as your identification number. This gives identity thieves access to your private information and also may gives them a link to identify you between databases. Knowing the importance of you SSN when it comes to identity theft, it becomes apparent that you should keep that number as private as possible such as you would your PIN for your bank card. Taking all precautions with your SSN makes it much harder for an identity thief to steal your identity. |
